We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
When you use AI Analysis, Genie chat or the voice-entry fallback, we send the information needed to answer you to an AI processing provider that works on our behalf. This is usually your question plus a summary of relevant data — for example category totals, holdings, tax figures and your profile inputs (age, income, risk preference). We do not send your password, login credentials, or payment details, and we do not send your uploaded bank-statement files.
The provider processes this data only to generate your response, under contractual terms that restrict its use to providing the service (not for building its own advertising profiles). AI output can be wrong or incomplete — see the Terms & Agreement. If you prefer not to use these features, simply don't use them; the rest of the app works without them.
Voice entry uses your browser's built-in speech recognition. Depending on your browser and device (for example Chrome or Safari), the audio may be processed by the browser vendor under its own privacy policy. We never receive or store your audio; we receive only the resulting text if our AI fallback is needed to understand it.
We share personal data only with service providers that help us run SmartFolio, and only what each one needs:

Partner platforms you connect. If you sign in through, or link SmartFolio with, a partner platform such as Green Sigma, we exchange only what is needed for sign-in and — if you enable it — the trade data needed to compute your tax. You can disconnect at any time.
Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, court order or a government authority, or to protect the rights and safety of users and the service.

Our providers may process data on servers located outside India. We choose providers that maintain appropriate security safeguards, and we transfer data only as permitted under Indian law.
We keep your data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period (targeting 30 days), except records we must keep by law (for example payment and invoice records) and short-lived backups that expire on their normal cycle.
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls and other reasonable safeguards to protect your data. No online service can be guaranteed 100% secure, so please use a strong, unique password and keep your login private.
Under the DPDP Act you may: access a summary of the personal data we hold; correct or update it; request erasure; withdraw consent (which may limit some features); nominate another person to exercise your rights in case of death or incapacity; and raise a grievance. Write to mat.matvan@gmail.com — we aim to respond within 30 days. If you are unsatisfied with our response you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.

SmartFolio uses your browser's local storage to keep you signed in and to remember preferences (theme, voice language) and draft data. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party trackers.
SmartFolio is intended for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. The "Last updated" date above shows the latest version.
